Things have been a bit slow of late and after reading an article by my friend Jim at ‘Down the Road‘ about keeping creative juices flowing I have decided to dedicate Wednesdays to sharing ONE image and saying a few words about it in an attempt to ensure I publish more regularly.
Todays image was taken with my Voigtländer Prominent and the Nokton lens using Kodak Portra 160; my first colour roll using this lens.

I took this particular image while waiting for my family on a day out in San Diego last year. We were meeting my wife’s cousin for lunch and I was scanning the location for interesting things to photograph.
This hanging basket caught my eye as I liked teh way the sun was catching it and how the fronds(?) were drooping down the sides.
I am pretty happy with how it came out though I think the framing could have been slightly better; I have left it uncropped.
I like the play of shadows and how the straight diagonal lines of the structure contrast with the roundness of the bowl and the more organic plant shapes.
I think the image presents a nice warm sunny afternoon and hints perhaps of enjoying a gin and tonic on the patio.
