Lake Isabella

We decided to get out of town for the forth of July weekend and booked ourselves into a motel (the Lakeshore Motel) on Lake Isabella near to Kernville, CA.

We envisioned relaxed evenings sitting on the lake shore with a glass of wine watching the sun go down (with me taking the odd photograph of course to capture the idyllic moment).

Unfortunately this vision of perfection did not manifest itself in anyway shape or form (other than the drinking wine in the evenings) due to the Lakeshore Motel no longer being anywhere near where the edge of the lake now is. It seems that due to climate change or whatever else it may be the lakes water levels have sunk considerably and the lake shore is currently at least a mile if not two from the motel. Fortunately we had a lovely time anyway and discovered the beauty of this area and the glorious Kern river that feeds the lake and also travels off down the canyon.

Here is the lake in the distance from close to where the lakeshore used to be

I did venture out with my cameras a couple of times to walk the lakebed and captured a few images that I like (I hope you do too)
